Q: How do I format the hard drive?

Q: How come my computer does not detect the hard drive?

A. The hard drive is either not formatted or inserted into the SATA or IDE connector and secured within the enclosure properly. To format please view the links above. Otherwise, double check to make sure the hard drive is installed and secured properly. Connect both ends of the Y-USB cable to 2 USB ports as often as possible to ensure proper amount of power is being supplied. If the hard drive is still not detected on the PC even after leaving it connected while restarting the PC. Please follow the suggestions below.

1. Be sure to check whether the unit and hard drive is supported by your PC.
2. Test the unit on other USB ports.
3. Test the unit on other PCs.
4. Switch the hard drive with another one. Preferably a known working hard drive.
If the issue is still not resolved following the suggestions above. Please contact the seller for further assistance.

Q: My D-Slim optical drive is not installing. How do I resolve the problem?

A. Please restart the computer with the D-SLim optical drive plugged into the USB port. Once the computer has completely loaded the operating system, insert a CD/DVD into the D-SLim optical drive. If the inserted CD/DVD is still not accessible please attempt to load the D-Slim optical drive onto another computer. Should the problem continue to persist, please contact the seller for further assistance.

Q: My D-Slim is not being detected, how do I resolve the problem?

A. Please connect the D-Slim to the PC. If the unit is not detected please restart the computer with or without a CD/DVD within the unit. Once restarted, if the computer still does not detect the D-Slim or is unable to read the CD/DVD. View the following suggestions below.

1. Try plugging the D-Slim into different USB ports. The D-Slim will normally work with just one end of the USB cable plugged in, however in the case it does not please use both ends of the USB cable.
2. Connect the D-Slim to another computer.

If none of the suggestions above resolves your issue. Please contact the seller.

Q: Does my D-Slim need drivers?

A. No, the D-Slim does not require any drives and is a plug and play unit.

Q: Where do I find the CD-Key for the Nero Burning Software?

A. You may find the CD-Key on the back of the White CD Case which accompanied the CD.

Mirage Q&A

 
Q: Do you have any screen shots of the on screen display of the mirage and can you send them or a link to me?

Q: Is it using Windows media player or something else?

A. Mirage has its own software and necessary codecs to play your videos. Just simply connect the Mirage to a TV system and play the file.

Q: Can the player be upgraded with new codes to allow it play different formats of music and video files?

Q: I have some music with a .flac extension I was able to download codes so Windows media player can play it. Can the Mirage do the same?

A. The Mirage can not support this codec. Please view the pdf user manual for more details on the unit on the following link  http://www.hornettek.com/products/manual/Mirage.pdf

Q: I have seen the mirage on ebay with a 1.5 TB hard drive yet your web site says it only supports 1.0 TB. Will I have problems if I install a 1.5 TB drive?

A. At the moment, Mirage can support up to 2TB, but some HDD may not be recognized by the Mirage during the first installation. If you encounter this kind of problem, please re-format your hard disk using FAT32 on your PC.

Q: If I connect a second hard drive to the USB port can the Mirage play the media on it without a computer connected to it?

A. Yes, you can play it without PC.

Q: Will the Mirage play media on a computer attached to the USB or only the media on the installed hard drive?

A. Mirage can play the media via LAN, USB, or external/internal Hard Disk.

Q: Can the Mirage play WAV files?

A. No, the Mirage currently can not play .wav audio files.

Q: Is there any software to load in order to use the machine?

A. No, the Mirage has its own software already installed.

Q: Can I make a songlist to play?

A. Yes, the Mirage will allow you to create your favorite playlist.

Q: If I connect 1TB HDD, how many continuous hours can I record? (approximately)

Q: In order to use Wireless Interface (WIFI). Does require an specified USB WIFI dongle model? I have a NetGear USB WIFI dongle, could I use this or I have to buy some specific?

A. The HornetTek Mirage is not compatible with all WiFi USB Adapters. In order to make Mirage wireless It must be Real Tek model # RTL8187B chipset. http://www.realtek.com.tw/products/productsView.aspx?Langid=1&PFid=1&Level=6&Conn=5&ProdID=143
